In May 2026, our group of eight adults and one child spent two nights and three days at Aura Villa by SaffronStays in Alibaug. After comparing multiple options and conducting a group poll, we narrowed our choice down to StayVista Sea Breeze and SaffronStays Aura Villa. Aura Villa eventually emerged as the preferred option, and looking back, it proved to be a great decision for a family getaway. The information below is based on our actual stay experience. I will also explain the simple credit cards strategy used to generate ~10% return on the spent amount.

Journey to Alibaug
We started our journey from Navi Mumbai on Saturday morning and traveled by road. Although the standard travel time to Alibaug is around 2.5 hours, weekend traffic significantly impacts travel duration. It took us approximately 3.5 hours to reach the villa due to heavy traffic moving towards Alibaug on Saturday morning. Similarly, Sunday evening traffic heading back towards Mumbai can add nearly an hour to the journey.
Travelers also have the option of taking the Mumbai-Mandwa ferry service. However, for a family group carrying luggage and supplies, traveling by road felt more convenient and reliable. The villa is located approximately 9 km from Mandwa Beach.
Food and Meal Experience
One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the food. The villa offers meal packages prepared by in-house staff, and the quality exceeded expectations. The food was homely, flavorful, and catered well to guests of all age groups.

For eight adults, the meal package was charged at ₹1,450 per person per day, covering hi-tea, dinner, and breakfast. Lunch was charged separately at ₹250 per adult, while the 9-year-old child was charged only for lunch at ₹200. Interestingly, the child was not counted for the full meal package calculation. The total meal bill came to ₹25,400, and after adding 18% GST, the final amount was ₹29,972.
Villa Highlights
Aura Villa is a large and well-maintained property that is particularly suited for large families or groups. The rooms are spacious and can comfortably accommodate up to 16 adults. All four bedrooms are generously sized, providing adequate privacy while allowing everyone to stay together under one roof.
The swimming pool was clean and well-maintained throughout our stay. Another standout feature was the caretaker, who was extremely helpful and responsive whenever assistance was needed. The villa also offers plenty of seating space across both the ground floor and first floor, making it easy for groups to gather, relax, and socialize.
Most importantly, the property offers a peaceful atmosphere away from city noise, making it ideal for unwinding and spending quality time with family.

Areas for Improvement
While the overall experience was excellent, there were a few aspects that could be improved.
The villa is not sea-facing and is located a considerable distance from the beachfront, so guests looking for direct sea views may be disappointed. Additionally, there is no air conditioning in the dining and common hall areas, which can be noticeable during warmer months.
The activity room was another area where expectations were not fully met. Apart from the snooker table, most recreational facilities appeared neglected. The table tennis table was broken, and items such as the chessboard and carrom board were in poor condition.

Practical Tips for Future Visitors
If you plan to stay at Aura Villa, opting for the villa's meal package is highly recommended. Quality restaurants are limited in the immediate vicinity, while the villa's food and hospitality are excellent.
Those planning to consume premium alcoholic beverages should consider purchasing them from Mumbai before arriving. Although liquor shops are available about 2.5 km from the villa, premium brands may not always be available.
I have actually received and transferred the rewards which I have mentioned as of May 2026. However, due diligence is required to verify the MCC before spending.
Final Verdict
Aura Villa is an excellent option for large families and groups looking for a relaxed getaway in Alibaug. While it may not offer sea views or extensive recreational facilities, it compensates with spacious accommodations, outstanding hospitality, delicious food, a well-maintained pool, and a peaceful environment. For a comfortable 2-night family retreat where everyone can stay together and enjoy quality time, Aura Villa delivers a highly satisfying experience and is a property we would confidently recommend.
